Two New Alkaloids from Roots of Stemona tuberosa

Abstract: The roots of Stemona tuberosa ha ve been used as an antitussive and insecticide remedy for thousands of years. On the chemical investigation of the roots of S . tuberosa , two new tuberostemonine-type alkaloids, epoxy-tuberostemonol (1), and neotuberostemoenone (2), together with a known alkaloid, n eotuberostemonine, were isolated and identified. The structures of new alkaloids were established on the basis of 1D and 2D NMR and other spectroscopic analyses.
