Seven 2,3-epoxy-1-phenyl-3-aryl-1-propanones were synthesized via epoxidation of the corresponding 1-phenyl-3-aryl-2-propen-1-ones with 30% aqueous hydrogen peroxide in 74-99% yields using benzyldimethyltetradecylammonium chloride as phase transfer catalyst under ultrasound irradiation.

Photochemistry of some 2-butenyl/butynyl-bischromones has been investigated in benzene and isopropanol-THF (1:1). The photoreactions are initiated through the intramolecular H-abstraction that leads to the formation of tetracyclic derivatives and vinyl bischromones. Photolytic conversion of the bischromones is found to be dependent upon the nature of the intermediate spacer and H-donating capability of the solvent.

5-Benzylidene-, 5-(furan-2-ylmethylene)- and 5-(thiophen-2-ylmethylene)-4,5-dihydro-1,2,4-triazin-6-ones have been synthesized from the reaction of 4,5-dihydro-1,2,4-triazin-6-ones with appropriate aromatic aldehydes. All the products have been characterized by elemental analysis and their spectral data.
